ClearOceans was founded on the concept of pro-action: moving forward and in anticipation of getting things done! With their systems-level approach to problem-solving, our founders are now applying their decades of entrepreneurship and building successful start-ups to clean up our oceans and waterways. We value education and the “pro-activism” that stems from an aware people.
Plastics and other carelessly discarded pollutants are only part of the clean-up challenge. And a great starting point. Through innovation and partnerships with universities, state and federal governments, and private corporations, ClearOceans is building scalable, automated skimming systems to clear floating debris from our oceans and waterways. These independent and autonomous systems may be produced in volume and operate as a collective swarm to clean an area or waterway.
Work is also being done on independent and automated buoy systems to report on the quality of water and pollutant content. For example, agricultural runoff will be monitored to determine flows and concentrations so as to focus on areas needing cleanup attention and minimize or prevent red tide blooms.
ClearOceans is also designing and developing innovative, multifaceted autonomous systems to treat red tide over massive areas. This is used in conjunction with earlier, upstream systems to limit the foodstuff of the algae, further slowing a red tide bloom. Additional work will be done upstream to help repair an environment’s natural filtering system, like that of Florida’s Everglades, marshes, and wetlands.
This is hard work, and we cannot do this alone. Working with aligned organizations, and corporate, governmental, and institutional partners, we can make this happen. Being “proactivists” we will educate and make change.
Whether it be floating debris or agricultural runoff, our goal is to directly impact the source cause of pollutants, limiting that which gets into our oceans and fouls our water-based ecosystems.
Join us. Be a part of the solution.
As part of their proactive drive, ClearOceans is currently investigating technologies to invisibly tag plastics so that plastics may be traced back through the supply chain.
